Kate Bosworth bared a hint of midriff in her Proenza Schouler Spring 2012 look at Frederic Fekkai and Lisa Love Celebrate The 2011 CFDA Vogue Fashion Fund Finalists at the Chateau Marmont in Los Angeles last week.
“That outfit is so different! I love it!” balmain
“I love the Proenza Schouler!!” Not Plain Jane
agreed. “Nice. Edgy and sophisticated all at once. Great to see it off the runway.”
Though there were several more glowing reviews of the look, not all forum members were as pleased with it. Lizard Queen
posted, “Her face looks lovely but that top she's wearing is just [terrible]. I hate that greenish yellow and I hate animal prints and here it is all mixed together and combined with a weird cut, ugh. Sometimes I think she confuses edgy with ugly.”
Clearly everyone's entitled to their own opinion, but you can lump me with those who liked the look. The bare midriff can be a tough trend to pull off, but I think Kate did it the right way. It's a look that can easily veer into the tawdry, raunchy category, but Kate looks fashion forward in her Proenza Schouler top and skirt. The bare midriff is best when you show no belly-button, at least in my book.
