The Cut Blog is reporting that Prada’s longtime casting director Russell Marsh has potentially been replaced by Ashley Brokaw, who had already taken Marsh's role when it came to booking the talent for Prada’s ad campaigns. Brokaw is also responsible for the casting of the much-anticipated shows of Balenciaga and Proenza Schouler.
Due largely to Marsh’s eye, Prada has a reputation for launching the careers of undiscovered talent. Sasha Pivovarova and Arizona Muse both benefited from his casting them in Prada runway shows. It will be interesting to see if Brokaw can continue in that same vein.
“This is really unexpected, Russell and Prada always seemed to be the perfect collaboration,” Marc10 commented. “I wonder if he's replaced at Miu Miu too,” he mused.
“Well, I really like her choices for the last ads,” jmrmartinho posted, voicing some support. “Fresh girls with something special.”
LagerfeldBoy isn’t too optimistic about the change. “So Ashley casts models for Balenciaga and Proenza Schouler? Yeah, definite downgrade from Russell,” he wrote. “In my opinion, the models constantly casted at Proenza and Balenciaga are just so bland.”
Is it bad that I don’t think I’ll be able to notice a difference?
