Already the face of Burberry and Isabel Marant this season, Edie Campbell has been unveiled as the face of John Galliano for Fall 2016, taking over for Christy Turlington Burns who fronted the campaign last season. Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin captured the Brit beauty in the studio wearing a feather-light silk dress while posing under some pink lighting for added effect.
“Beautiful dress and great photo but Edie looks very drained. I know it’s what she is known for but even if JG is not at Galliano, that’s not the image I have of the brand. Maybe it represents what the brand is in 2016: drained!” voiced a less than impressed Lola701 the moment the campaign dropped.
Feeling the same way was Elite13, writing, “She just looks like she has really bad hay fever. Dislike.”
“I don’t get her appeal She always looks the same and bland but people booking her over and over again,” said a dumbfounded DutchHomme.
MyNameIs wasn’t exactly pleased by Edie either, echoing, “Neck down it’s a great photo. That dress looks really pretty. Then there’s Edie.”
“Edie again? There are so many other models out there!” Handbag Queen ranted in frustration.
“I think that her blandness works well with the pink filter, I like it,” said kokobombon, oozing a totally different opinion to everyone else.
Nymphaea agreed, commenting, “I like it too, in some way it works really well.”
Sharing the same outlook was Benn98: “I also love the image! Reminds me of fashion shots around the millennium era.”
Better luck next season, we say! Join the conversation here.
