Would you believe us if we told you the last time Lady Gaga made an appearance at your local newsstand was August of last year for V Magazine? As predicted in our Cover Rumor Thread, Vogue welcomes back the pop sensation after a six-year hiatus from the magazine’s cover, as she marks her third appearance on the glossy, for the October 2018 issue. Who better than Inez van Lamsweerde & Vinoodh Matadin to capture the A Star Is Born actress since they’ve worked together since… well, forever? Throw stylist Tonne Goodman into the mix, a black Brandon Maxwell dress and you have the makings of one exceptional cover.
Or so you would expect. From the get-go, members of our forums weren’t feeling it. “OMG! She looks horrible. What were they thinking?” slammed Scotty.
“YIKES! This is all kinds of bad to me: one of the worst US Vogue covers I have seen in a while. I was expecting so much better from Gaga by I&V! Everything looks too light and Gaga looks either sick or very sleepy. How on earth could they go for this shot as the cover?” asked apple.
“Something is off in her face,” mentioned mikel.

Fluxxx wasn’t much of a fan either, writing, “She looks sick and too pale. I’m kinda surprised to see so much cleavage on a US Vogue cover LOL. It’s such a lazy and uninviting cover!”
“She looks so odd and sleepy on the cover. If they chose an image where she’s giving more face it would have been incredible,” dodencebt said.
“I’m all for Gaga and this image could have been okay, but she looks slightly sleepy? I’m not sure. It just doesn’t all work as a whole for me,” honeycombchild noted.
Sharing the same lack of enthusiasm toward the cover was YohjiAddict: “Awful! She looks like a half drunk mess at some random funeral, the colors are so sad it feels like life has been drained out of her, the cleavage is just in poor taste, those brows are a big NO.”
