Our forums complained about the lack of fashion on British Vogue‘s Beckham family portrait cover last month and it seems like the magazine heard our cries. For the November 2018 issue,19-year-old Fran Summers delivers beauty, grace and a real fashion-forward cover image for her solo debut (after joining eight others on the magazine’s May cover). Photographed by Inez van Lamsweerde & Vinoodh Matadin and styled by Edward Enninful on the streets of New York, Fran serves Jean Shrimpton realness in a floor-length custom Giorgio Armani Privé dress, paying homage to the British invasion of America during the 1960s.
The newsstand cover (above) garnered mixed reviews from our forum members. “I’m happy for Fran, but there’s a lot going on there,” complained caioherreo.
“She time traveled and is wearing a curtain, wrong era dear, not a good cover,” laughed Nymphaea.
“Well, good for him for finally promoting British talent, but the result is dismal (and at no fault of Fran),” HeatherAnne commented.

Also feeling slightly underwhelmed by the outcome was MDNA. “She looks great there, and it’s refreshing to see him using a street shoot for cover instead of his regular white/gray background studio shoot, but the cover looks so fan-made to me,” he pointed out.
“Happy for Fran, much deserved. The cover image… is a choice. Not really sure if I love it or hate it but she looks great,” Marc10 echoed.
Forum member zoom felt the same way, writing, “Here for Fran and this UK Vogue OG star-making cover moment. The image may be busy but Miss Summers shines!”
“I so knew Fran would get an OG cover, and wow what a cover!” exclaimed Miss Dalloway.
Happycanadian liked what they saw too: “100% here for this. Love love love it. Refreshing and fun!”
