Remember that group of high school girls who compiled a list of what everyone was wearing to prom so that there would be no dress repeats? Perhaps stylists to the stars should consider doing the same for red carpet events. This week in celebrity mirror-mirror moments: jacquard, brocade and matching Marchesa.
Trend #1: Victoria Beckham Jacquard Stripes

Taekwondo gold medalist—and one of those unexpected style stars to emerge from last year’s Olympics—Jade Jones was named the BBC Wales Sports Personality of the year and received her award in a Victoria Beckham satin and brocade striped dress. Anne Hathaway wore an almost identical look at the BAFTA Awards Season tea party, except hers had short sleeves and a tulip skirt. Hathaway styled hers with navy tights, pointy pumps and a yellow satchel, while Jones limited her accessories to a sparkly clutch, simple bracelet and peep-toe pumps. Even if you prefer Hathaway’s style, you know Jones can probably kick her butt.
Trend #2: Lemon Brocade

Throwing maternity fashion caution to the wind, Kim Kardashian arrived for an appearance on The Today Show in a curve-hugging peplum dress in yellow brocade. Kanye West’s baby mama enhanced the sexy cut-out Stella McCartney dress with a bright red pout, keeping accessories to a minimum and pairing the look with nude pumps. At the Film Critics Awards, Jennifer Lawrence also looked lovely in lemon brocade, wearing a Valentino Couture dress with long sleeves and an artfully pinned up skirt. She took the baroque dress to a directional level with a milkmaid braid and black T-strap sandals. Which one of these sunshiny looks brightens your winter?
Trend #3: Strapless Marchesa Dress

Let’s hope Suits actress Meghan Markle and Grey’s Anatomy star Kim Raver avoided each other at the ELLE Women in Television event, because they were wearing the exact same Marchesa dress with a beautifully tailored satin bodice and pencil skirt—albeit in different jewel tones. Markle styled her deep magenta version with metallic pumps and a gold clutch, while Raver accessorized her sky blue dress with nude sandals and a grey manicure. Both actresses showed off enviably shiny blow-outs, but do you think either of these stars blew the other out of the water?
