Discussing what girls belong on the top ten new girl lists of all those acclaimed fashion websites has long been tradition at The Fashion Spot. But now for the first time, tFS has its very own Top Ten New Faces list! You have voted by the masses for over a week now and here are the ten girls that you decided were the biggest new stars on the runways of Spring-Summer 2009!
When a girl is not represented by an agency outside of Paris and still manages to book a whole bunch of huge shows beyond the city of lights, then it’s obvious that girl is a star. Anna Selezneva did just that. Following a small but enviable showlist in Paris last season, she’s had a Calvin Klein exclusive in New York, walked shows like Gucci, Fendi and Jil Sander in Milan and appeared at almost every major show in Paris. A star indeed.
It’s safe to say that Anya Kazakova had every important casting director at hello, since she walked 57 shows in her first season. After opening the Calvin Klein show and walking for Marc Jacobs in New York, her success continued on the European runways. Prada, Versace, Balenciaga, Alexander McQueen, Lanvin. You name it, she was there.
Arlenis Sosa Pena
If there is one girl that killed New York, then it’s Dominican beauty Arlenis Sosa Pena, from opening and closing Oscar de la Renta to the runways of Zac Posen, Ralph Lauren and Anna Sui. And with that Lancome deal already under her belt, it makes her less succesful European showseason not important at all. That’s if you call Dior, Gaultier and Galliano unimportant shows, of course.
French stunner Constance Jablonski posesses a unique edge and an ‘in your face’ beauty. That golden combination landed her slots at Donna Karan, Dolce & Gabbana, Versace and Louis Vuitton, just to name a few. Blonde, blue eyed Constance has well deserved her spot on this list.
Cute as a button and queen of the runway are two ways to describe Imogen Morris-Clarke. And queen she is, since she knew how to impress on the runways of Marc by Marc, Burberry Prorsum and Chanel. Those big green eyes certainly are captivating enough to include her as one of the tFS Top Ten New Faces.
After campaigns for Hermès and Givenchy, Indian beauty Lakshmi Menon finally found her way to all the international catwalks. Ralph Lauren, D&G and Michael Kors finally saw what Jean Paul Gaultier and Riccardo Tisci knew all along: this girl is a rare beauty that belongs to be photographed on a runway.
Already reigning over the pages of Vogue China for quite some time now, Liu Wen proved that she’s not only made for editorial photography, but also for walking the runway. From classic Caroline Hererra to cool Anna Sui, and from sexy Roberto Cavalli to provocative Alexander McQueen, Liu Wen is obviously fit for any type of show. Building up runway mileage in 54 shows makes her a great addition to this list.
After doing the Prada Resort show before the Summer, all important eyes were watching Australian cool girl Myf Shepherd. Whose eyes exactly you ask? Well, the eyes of Gucci, Marc Jacobs, John Galliano and Balenciaga just to name a few. This brilliant brunette had everything going for her to make it to this season’s top ten.
A major blonde moment is happening right now in the modeling world and classic beauty Sigrid Agren seems to be leading the pack. Walking for Louis Vuitton, Valentino, Ralph Lauren, Gucci and closing the Prada show certainly established that. If her showlist is any indication, Sigrid is up for one amazing career.
An awesome walk, beautiful face and the fullest lips of the season resulted in an undeniably strong showlist for Yulia Kharlapanova. She gracefully walked for Lanvin, Louis Vuitton, Prada, Yves Saint Laurent and Jil Sander, where she was also girl number one. All designers seemed to agree that Yulia is a must have on your runway. And thus, she is a must have on this list.
