Don’t file your skinny jeans away just yet. Try pushing a few to the side to make a little room for the new wide leg version to making an appearance S pring 2009. Chic, elegant but not always flattering, the pant looks best with a slight flair and higher waistline. Shown in silk, linen, denim and various prints, some version went to the extreme in volume and others kept it straight and simple. The best designs on runways hinted at the classic look of the 30’s while introducing something new for a modern spin.
Dennis Basso exuded decadence in a sleek, silver velvet pant paired with a printed chiffon blouse.
Akris introduces a sensuous pantsuit with a wide-leg, transparent bottom with a sleeveless suit jacket.
D&G is circus chic with a metallic, horizontal striped, wide leg pant in a floor skimming length.
Chado Ralph Rucci changes the classic curve on the pant by creating a fuller cut on the knee and layering in black organza.
Missoni has an organic edge with a clay color, creased pant and classic, Missoni knitted top.
Donna Karan goes big with an over-the top wide-leg pant in a silky, metallic fabric.
Although most of the looks were shown with oversized blousy tops, for a more flattering look, stick to something fitted that shows your actual figure. You could get lost in all the fabric!
