Last season, perhaps in celebration of Fashion Week, Target opened four Bulls eye Bodega pop-up shops all of which were filled with twenty-two of the retailer’s designer collaborations.
Manhattanites, deprived of a Target year-round, found themselves delighted at the Jonathan Saunders, John Derian, Rachel Ashwell, Sonia Kashuk, Jemma Kidd, Dean Harris, Anya Hindmarch, Mossimo, Converse, and Sigerson Morrison offerings – just to name a few. If the mob of enthusiasts from last year’s pop-up shops are any indication, expect another frenzy this year as it has just been announced that there will be a pop-up McQ Market at St. John’s Center — 330 West Street at West Houston Street.
From noon until 10pm on February 14th and 15th, fashion enthusiasts can go pick-up coveted looks from the McQ for Target collection in the massive space. To boot, the pop-up store brings the wares to Manhattan almost a month before the rest of the world can get their hands on it (the collection officially launches online and in stores on March 4th).
Target is calling the pop-up shop “The Target McQ Market” and it will feature booths made of chain link fence, distressed plywood and graffiti covered grates evoking the gritty ambience of Camden Market and the nostalgia of a rock ‘n roll club. The Target McQ Market will also feature young NYC artists who will be creating one-of-a-kind pieces using prints, fabrics and embellishments from the McQ Alexander McQueen for Target line.
