Recently the prestigious British Academy of Film and Television Arts Awards took place. But the achievements of actors, actresses and directors alike weren’t the only thing being monitored by the audience – fashion enthusiasts were keeping a close eye on the red carpet. What really caught my eye was the attire of male celebrities, Noel Clarke and Dev Patel.
Everyone is aware of Dev Patel and the buzz of his award-winning movie, Slumdog Millionaire (which won a ton of Academy Awards last Sunday). And the BAFTA award winning actor, screenwriter and director, Noel Clarke is definitely in the public eye at the moment. But how to dress such important guests? Aquascutum, the British luxury fashion brand, certainly did a fantastic job. Dressing the stars in clean-cut and beautifully tailored suits proved a fabulous choice.
Graeme Fidler, head of menswear design, said – ‘I am thrilled to have the opportunity to work with such a prestigious British institution as BAFTA. Aquascutum has always been inspired by – and worn by – stylish and talented actors, and the collaboration with BAFTA ensures this tradition is brought right up to date.’
Aquascutum has a rich association with stars of film and television both past and present. Amongst the names that have graced the screen and red carpet in Aquascutum signature pieces are icons such as Cary Grant, Humphrey Bogart, Sean Connery, Peter Seller and Pierce Brosnan. But Noel Clarke and Dev Patel weren’t the only names added to the list of “Aquascutum dressed” – Danny Boyle, Christian Colson, Dominic Cooper and Ron Howard were all dressed head-to-toe Aquascutum.
The luxury brand’s contribution towards BAFTA fashion is definitely a commendable one. Dressing the host of stars has brought menswear red carpet fashion into the limelight.
