On April 3rd Prada opened its second boutique in Madrid. Located on the popular shopping destination Calle Serrano, the Prada store will sit alongside other notable brands including Carolina Herrera, Loewe, and Cartier. The first Prada space – located around the corner from the just opened new store – will now be home to the house’s men’s line, while the new boutique is selling Prada’s women’s wear line, handbags, luggage, shoes, and fragrances.
The two floor, 5000-plus square foot Madrid boutique was designed by Italian architect Roberto Baciocchi and reportedly features beige carpeting, chrome, and glass.
One of the brand’s spokespeople noted that opening a new Prada store in such a critical economic times sends a very positive message that Prada strongly believes in their product, adding that “today’s customer is more focused on where to spend the money she or he has, because there is money out there. The Spanish market is increasingly more important. We needed to give our clients a bigger space and more opportunity [to buy]. The new store is on par with Milan and Paris.”
