Band of Outsiders, Scott Sternberg’s acclaimed label, has gradually become an empire, and this NYFW they welcomed another into the family. With the already popular Man and Boy collections, Band of Outsiders debuted Girl to a captive audience. Boy’s menswear-inspired separated have enthralled downtown girls for seasons, but Girl’s dainty, feminine womenswear is a welcome addition.
Classic Grecian draping was a key feature in the daywear, but for evening, the silhouette was much more structured and sleek. Standout looks included a sleeveless tuxedo dress and an off-the-shoulder day dress. The collection featured a variety of looks that could take the ‘Girl’ girl from the office to the beach.
For Boy loyalists, this season’s wears were slightly more country, but the chinos, color blocked separates, faux-camo, and plaid could easily be integrated into a downtown wardrobe. Both womenswear showings were updated American sportswear.
