In my version of a perfect world, I would get unlimited professional blowouts for the rest of my life. Yes, I love blowouts that much. It’s not about achieving bouncy anchorwoman tresses, but about ridding myself of the frizzy hair I inherited. Growing up in south Florida meant dealing with said frizz 24/7 until I hightailed it out of there at age 18 to California, home of no humidity. I am a believer of the flat iron for help in the frizz department, but I made it my personal goal to master shiny hair with the use of just a hair dryer. In my eyes, the flat iron is a helpful tool that is sometimes necessary (i.e., my Florida days or when I just want to sleep in), but it’s not the best option since overuse can lead to serious hair damage.
I’ve tried hair dryers of every price range in the quest for my idea of perfect hair and have found that not all of these heated tools are created equal. I finally found one that is currently making my hair dreams come true — and I didn’t have to spend a fortune.
Meet the BeLiss Pro Titanium Dryer ($99.99). It is a professional grade hair dryer, meaning it boasts more wattage than the average consumer dryer. The 2000-watt dryer claims to last three times longer than other professional dryers and delivers 25% stronger airflow for fast drying and quick results. I’ve only owned this version for a few weeks so I can’t vouch for its longevity, however, the airflow part is very accurate. I’ve owned a very expensive (over $200) dryer that promised salon-worthy results, but delivered weak air flow that was on par with that of a hotel hair dyer (my worst nightmare). When I first powered up this bad boy though, my hand flinched back because I could feel the power. It took some getting used to the pressure, but I was starting to feel like a pro as I tackled my sopping wet hair.
I usually start my blowdry by clipping damp hair into six sections, then I use a flat brush to dry it. But I wanted to see what this dryer was made of, so I skipped this part and went straight to styling. I smoothed out the hair along my hair line first (I have bad cowlicks, ugh) and worked my way back until I had shiny “chill” waves. Total styling time from fresh-out-of-the-shower wet hair to my hair perfection: less than 15 minutes!
Is this the be-all and end-all for me? Right now, yes. Am I open to trying other dryers? Absolutely. But for now, I’m pretty stoked about the short commitment time and brilliant results the BeLiss Pro offers.
