I am a lipstick girl through-and-through — I just feel more put-together with a swipe of lip color. While I love to experiment with kooky shades (like black or bubblegum pink), I always have several shades of red knocking around at the bottom of my makeup bag. Red is the ultimate classic color — and it may be more versatile than you realize. Here are prime examples of how my favorite Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in Rich Girl Red goes with, well, pretty much everything.
Bare-Faced
Red lips really shine on an otherwise naked face. It’s a surprisingly fresh look when worn with just a swipe or two of mascara and clean skin.
Cat Eye Cool
Feel free to channel a French film icon with a quick line of liquid eyeliner. The cat eye has been trendy for so many years, it’s really more of a classic by now. Whether you do your flick long and lean or short and stubby, this eyeliner look is killer with a red lip. We think practice makes perfect (forget cat eye guides!), so get to it.
A Full Face
Who says you can’t do heavy eyes and a heavy lip? Not me! There is no better look that screams, “I mean fancy!” To achieve this, I lined the outside of my eyes with a kohl liner and rounded out the look by repurposing my lipstick as cream blush. There are two good ways to make lippy work as blusher: go slightly more subtle by making a line with the lipstick on the apple of your cheeks and then blend; or for more drama, draw oversized circles in the same area and blend. Either way, it lends itself to a more cohesive makeup look by matching the lips. Though “heavy eyes, blush and lipstick” sounds like a lot of makeup, it actually looks pretty cool.
