News & Runway

I’ve just come back from the Target To-Go Pop-up which is in New York City through Dec 13th (Gansevoort Street & Washington Street at the High Line Entrance). The idea behind the pop-up space is that Target is taking the hassle out of holiday shopping – you literally pick what you want from a choice of 50 of the most coveted holiday items, including Rodarte for Target and other fashions, toys, gadgets, home décor, and beauty buys.  All of these are numbered and displayed behind glass windows, go to the counter, tell them the number of the item you wish to purchase, pay, and then go to another window to pick-up your merchandise, which comes wrapped and ready to gift (think of the process of ordering fast food from a drive-thru to get the full picture).

If you spend $100 or more can opt for free, same-day delivery between Battery Park and 99th Street. Today, December 11th, Target presented families in need, selected by The Salvation Army, with a $100 Target GiftCard for a head start on their holiday shopping, and actress Rachel Bilson was on site to hand out gifts to The Salvation Army families and the public for one hour when the store opened.

As an added incentive to stop by, beginning on the morning of December 11th, Target will place approximately 500 oversized and easy-to-identify gift tags around New York City. For each gift tag returned to the Target To-Go store, Target will give the shopper a GiftCard, worth anywhere from $10 to $500.  The only way to know how much your GiftCard is worth is to take it to the Target To-Go store on your own.  For every GiftCard redeemed in the store, Target will donate $100 to The Salvation Army to benefit families in need. Shoppers can get a jump start on finding GiftCards by following a special Twitter feed. By following, you can get Target-To information as well as clues on Friday about the location of the GiftCards.

I was able to preview the pop-up yesterday, and was impressed by how fun, quick, and easy the whole process is. I picked-up a dress from the Rodarte for Target collection and was even more impressed when it came to the quality of the garments. Next stop for Target To-Go? San Francisco and D.C.!
